Is it the battery, alternator or starter?
These parts do different jobs, but their symptoms can overlap. The battery supplies starting power, the alternator supports charging while the engine runs, and the starter turns the engine. Clicking or a successful jump-start alone does not identify the failed part. Tell J & J exactly what happens so the starting and charging concern can be investigated.
Why does my battery keep going dead?
An aging battery is one possibility; a charging problem or electrical draw can also leave it discharged. Repeatedly replacing or jump-starting the battery may leave the cause unresolved. Note how long the vehicle sits before the problem occurs, any lights left on, and any recently fitted electrical accessories.
What information helps with an intermittent electrical fault?
Include the year, make, model and mileage; which warning lights appear; and whether the problem happens on a cold start, after driving or after sitting overnight. Photos of dashboard messages and a record of recent repairs can help explain a fault that is not present every time. Ask the shop about diagnostic pricing when arranging service.
My car will not start. Can J & J help at my location?
Yes. J & J offers mobile repair and 24/7 roadside help. Broke down? Call (631) 919-0157 and we'll get you sorted. Not every electrical repair can be finished roadside.
Do you diagnose electrical problems on trucks as well as cars?
Yes. J & J handles automotive and commercial truck electrical concerns. For a work truck, include the vehicle type and whether it is carrying equipment or a load. Tell the team whether you need shop service or are calling about a breakdown; availability depends on the vehicle and work involved.
